What was your first thought when you were crowned Miss Shoreline?

“No Way!” I had been talking about competing in the Miss Connecticut Organization for SO long! When I finally decided to compete and won my first ever title, all I could think was “No way! This is finally happening!!” I was so excited to finally have the opportunity to have a platform and share my passions with my community and beyond. I was so lucky that so many of my family and friends were there to cheer me on and celebrate with me! They yelled so loud when my name got called, it was something I’ll never forget!

What do you hope to accomplish as Miss Shoreline?

I hope to spend my year promoting my personal platform, “Kids are Kids: Fostering Social Engagement and Play for all Children.” This platform is a mission to ensure that every child, despite the many adversities they may face, gets the opportunity to experience childhood. Having a platform to share my passions is a major reason why I decided to compete in this organization in the first place. It is my goal this year to help kids focus on one thing: just being kids!

To you, why is Miss America still relevant?

Miss America is an individual who uses her voice and uses it loudly. She uses her title to share her passions and learn from others. Today more than ever, we need to be in our communities using our voice to bring awareness to causes we are passionate about, and having strong women doing so is even more important. I decided to compete in the Miss America Organization for the opportunity to have a platform that allows me to share my passions, learn from others, and to inspire individuals to find their passions and share them!

What has been your favorite appearance thus far as Miss Shoreline?

One of my favorite parts of The Miss America Organization is the dedication to Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. Therefore, my favorite appearance so far was National Pancake Day at IHop supporting our local Children’s Miracle Network Hospital, Connecticut Children’s. I love being #FTK (For the Kids!) any chance I get, so having the opportunity to support CMNH at my first appearance was really special. I mean, Pancakes for the kids?? What’s better than that?!

What is your favorite quote?

“Inspire a World of Good.” It’s my college’s motto and I think it’s something we should all strive to do everyday!

Fun fact:

One time I submitted a video to the Ellen DeGeneres Show and she aired it on the show! So basically, I was on the Ellen Show!! It was so cool! Ellen saying, “Alyssa Sachs” is one of my favorite memories, and that voice recording became my ringtone for months!

Who would you like to thank for helping you get to this point?
If I wrote out everyone who has helped me get to this point, there would be too many names to count! I like to say it would be a Mean Girls moment, where I break the crown apart and share it with everyone. I just want to say thank you to my family and friends for believing in me, even when you thought I was crazy. Thank you for watching me practice my walk in my dorm room, being my stylists and giving your honest opinions on my outfit choices, being my fitness coaches and making sure I stay on track, acting as a judging panel and mock-interviewing me in my living room, staying up to date with my appearances and social media and lastly, making me feel as prepared as possible to live out my DREAMS on that stage in June! This experience would not have been the same without all of you! To Mom, Dad, the Dreams Team and everyone else who has supported up until now, thank you for turning into Miss Shoreline’s Number one fans! I love you!
