What was your first thought when you were crowned Miss Greater Waterbury’s Outstanding Teen?

When I won, I couldn’t believe it.  Since it was my first year, I never expected when it would be my time.

What do you hope to accomplish as Miss Greater Waterbury’s Outstanding Teen?

I want to show Connecticut that my hearing disability that my hearing disability doesn’t define who I am. Also to those who have a hearing aid themselves. Also I want to inform as many people I can about the importance of those who suffer with a hearing disability.

To you, why is Miss America still relevant?

Miss America is still relevant because it shows young girls why they are important and their own worth. It doesn’t matter on what’s on the outside. When I first started to compete, I had no confidence in myself, but now, I’ve gained so much confidence and love for who I am, and I couldn’t thank the Miss America organization enough.  I believe any young girl trying to find who they are, to compete.

What has been your favorite appearance thus far as Miss Greater Waterbury’s Outstanding Teen?

My favorite appearance was the Unicorn Paint party. The whole time, we would call out a chant about being unique, and beautiful just the way you are. Not only did the young girls learn that day, I even did too.

What is your favorite quote?

My favorite quote is, “As a profoundly deaf woman, my experiences have shown me that the impossible is indeed possible”-Heather Whitestone Miss America 1995. This quote proves to me, that my disability won’t get in my way of anything.

Fun fact:

I’m double jointed in my thumbs!

Who would you like to thank for helping you get to this point?

I would like to thank all my family members for all the love and support, especially my mom for driving me to each appearance!  Cc and Suzanne for all their honest opinions and wanting what’s best for me. My miss, Laura, for always having the confidence in myself when I need it. Autumn, my sister queen, for always being my best friend.
