What was your first thought when you were crowned Miss Nutmeg?

It is hard to put into words all of my emotions when my name was called as Miss Nutmeg 2019.  When I began my Miss America journey four years ago, Miss Nutmeg was one of the first locals that I had ever competed in.  Although I did not walk away with the title that year I knew that one day, when the time was right, I would be Miss Nutmeg.  The moment I heard: “And the new Miss Nutmeg 2019 is Victoria Lemme” allowed me to recognized the growth that I have made within the Miss America Organization.  I truly believe that my journey is coming full circle.

What do you hope to accomplish as Miss Nutmeg?

My list of items to accomplish as a titleholder is ever growing.  First and foremost, I strive to make a lasting impact on all individuals that I encounter along the way.  Whether my impact is through my social initiative, “Fight Like A Baby: The Battle of Prematurity,” my work as a nurse in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, or as an Ambassador for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, I want to know that when my time as Miss Nutmeg comes to a close, I have made a difference in our community.

To you, why is Miss America still relevant?

Regardless of any changes made to the Miss America Organization, one fact will remain the same; MissAmerica is a trailblazer, creating a positive role model for young women to aspire to be like. Once a local and state titleholder, Miss America instills the value of perseverance in her sisters nationwide.

What has been your favorite appearance thus far as Miss Nutmeg?

Shortly after the competition in December, team MNSO rented a van for what we called “Sponsor Saturday”.  Being able to travel the state to visit numerous state and local sponsors to give thanks for the services and products provided allowed me to deeply appreciate the statewide support along my journey to accomplishing my dream, becoming Miss Connecticut.  The day may have been long, but it was filled with many laughs and memories with my sisters and directors.  The Miss Nutmeg and Miss Connecticut Organizations would not be what it is without it’s backbone, our sponsors!

What is your favorite quote?

“The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.” Eleanor Roosevelt
